Sweep.

Clay, Pigment, Wax, Casein on Paper

All works are 8” X 10”

Sweep is a series of paintings. Each work is created in one sitting using a self developed technique consisting of clay, pigment, wax, and casein. It is both my therapy and a form of worship. Each work brings me a sense of accomplishment and completeness, with anticipation for the next work.

Conte-crayons are sanded onto paper, swept and scraped between layers of wax, and finished with casein and beeswax. The resulting surface quality is a distinguishing characteristic of these works. Yet, the paintings evoke a broad range of open-ended human experience including place and spirit.
